Making chai latte at home is easier than you think. With our 1001 Organic Chai Syrup a spiced chai latte is ready in one minute, with cardamom, ginger, cinnamon and a hint of pepper from Zanzibar. No steeping tea and no boiling spices.
Here are our three favourite chai recipes: the classic chai latte, the dirty chai with espresso and the light hot spiced chai. The amounts are our suggestions, adjust them to your taste.
What is a chai latte?
In many languages, "chai" simply means "tea". In India, masala chai is traditionally brewed from black tea, milk, sugar and spices such as cardamom, ginger, cinnamon, cloves and pepper. The chai latte we know from cafés is the milky version: spicy, creamy and warming.
Why use chai syrup?
For a classic masala chai you boil tea and spices with milk and let everything steep. With our chai syrup you skip that step, because the spices are already in it. The syrup is based on our Chai Tea Latte spice blend from Zanzibar. We developed it together with the Cramerei in Chur, and the spices take centre stage, not the sweetness.

Tips for the perfect chai latte
-
Iced chai latte: In summer chai is just as good cold. Add cold milk, chai syrup and a few ice cubes to a glass and stir.
-
Perfect milk foam: Barista-style oat drink froths especially well.
-
For dusting: Sprinkle a pinch of Chai Tea Latte spice blend or cinnamon on the milk foam.
-
Sweetness to taste: Use more or less syrup to decide how spicy and sweet your chai is.
Chai latte FAQ
What is the difference between a chai latte and a dirty chai?
A dirty chai is a chai latte with a shot of espresso. So it is spicy and also has the flavour and caffeine of coffee.
How much chai syrup do I need for a chai latte?
We recommend approx. 20 ml of chai syrup per 200 ml of milk. If you like it spicier, add a little more.
Can I make a vegan chai latte?
Yes. Our chai syrup is vegan. With oat drink or another plant-based milk, your chai latte is completely vegan.
Does chai syrup contain caffeine?
No, our chai syrup is caffeine-free. A classic chai latte with milk is therefore caffeine-free too. Caffeine only comes in if you make it with espresso (dirty chai) or black tea (hot spiced chai).
